Kathryn W. Yancey – 88
of Lakeland passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2020 in the Lakeland Villa Convalescent Center. She was born August 15, 1931 in Naylor, Georgia to the late John A and Ruth Wilkes. She was a member of Pleasant Way Baptist Church and served as the church pianist for over 50 years. She was married to the late Gilbert David “Sam” Yancey, Sr. In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by two brothers John A. Wilkes, Jr. and Jimmy M. Wilkes. She was the owner of the Lanier County Freezer Locker.
Survivors include: Daughter and Son-in-law, Kathy Register(Glyndon) of Lakeland, GA; Son, David Yancey (Sue) of Naylor, GA; Daughter and Son-In-Law, Ruthie Watson (Bill) of Naylor, GA; Grandchildren: Glyn Register (Melody), Greg Register (Christi), Christy King (Kevin), Sammy Watson (Hannah), Ryan Yancey (Fiancé Becky Kluball); Great-Grandchildren: Katelyn Hunt (Jamie), Meghan Register, Hannah Register, Peyton, Parker, and Presley Wade, and Elise Watson; Great-Great Grandchildren: Raylyn and AnnaLee Hunt; Sister, Betty Ruth Gaskins of Naylor, GA; Special Friend, Eugenia Ganas; Numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. The family wishes to convey special thanks to Sabrina Dean, Cheryl Unwin and Dr. Bruce Herrington as well as the nurses and staff at Lakeland Villa.
Graveside services will be held Monday, June 8 at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Way Baptist Church Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be conveyed to the family at
