Of Valdosta, GA passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Baptist Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. Mrs. Powers was born on July 29, 1954 in Alexandria, VA. She was the daughter of the late William Bill and Katherine Elizabeth Sellers Curtis. She was a business owner and operated Kat's Bar for sixteen years. She also was formerly employed and volunteered at South Georgia Partnership for Health. Besides her parents, Mrs. Powers was also preceded in death by her husband, William Al Powers, and twin daughters, the Register twins.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Stewart Marcus, of Valdosta, GA; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Register Kristi, of Hahira, GA; a sister and brother-in-law, Dianne Parrish Glenn of Lilburn, GA; a brother and sister-in-law, Tom Dove Debra, of Panama City, FL; a brother and close companion, Gary Dove and Victoria Ordway, of Lake Park, GA; a brother and sister-in-law, Dr. David Curtis Shelley, of Augusta, GA; four grandchildren, Hannah Register, William Nathaniel Register, Joshua Register, and Asher Register; an uncle, Bill Sellers, of Franklin, NC; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members; and her fur baby, Chloe.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2016. Sympathies may be expressed online at www.musicfuneralservices.com .
