Larry James Hunter – 72
Of Valdosta, GA passed away on Tuesday May 28, 2019 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on December 13, 1946 in Fitzgerald, GA to the late James (JB) and Elenta (Harper) Hunter. After graduating from High School, Mr. Hunter joined the United States Navy, spending time in Vietnam during the conflict. Afterwards, Larry worked as a police officer for the Douglas PD and then went to work with his family with H&H air conditioner and service before working and retiring from Southeastern Freight Line after 26 years of service. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his two infant sisters, Deborah Lynn and Diane Hunter and his first wife of 41 years, Patricia Ann Hunter.
Survivors include his wife, Becky Hunter of Valdosta, GA; Daughter, Lea Hunter of Nashville, TN; Son and Daughter-in-law, Duane and Susan Hunter of Naylor, GA; Grandchildren, Ramsey Hunter and Peyton Hunter both of Naylor, GA; Sisters: Patricia Ann (Andy) Kroscavage of Brunswick, GA, Mary Katherine Findlay of Brunswick, GA, Martha Jane (Sam) Roberts, of Brunswick, Anita Kaye Stansel (Joe Edwin) Formerly of Valdosta, GA, Pamela Gail Hall, of Valdosta, GA, Penny Lorraine (Mark) Pitchford of Rison, AK; Several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 31, 2019, in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM on Friday, May 31, 2019, at the funeral home. Sympathy may be expressed online at
