Laura Jane Simpson Scruggs – 84
Of Valdosta passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2011 in Lakehaven Nursing Home. She was born in Valdosta on May 6, 1926 to the late James Matthew & Mattie Lucretia Willaford Simpson. Ms. Scruggs was employed several years at Wal-Mart as a Greeter. She enjoyed dancing, fishing and the companionship with her dog, Sam. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, James Russell Simpson and a sister, Grace Bridgeman
She is survived by her, Sons & Daughter-in-law, George & Janice Scruggs, Valdosta, GA, Jimmy Scruggs, Valdosta, GA; Grandchildren, Ashli Scruggs, Valdosta, GA, Travis & Sandra Scruggs, Commerce City, Colorado, Traci & Keith Avant, Windermere, FL; Great Grandchildren, Rachel and Sarah Avant, Dawson Scruggs; Sister, Ava Wheeler, Valdosta, GA; Sister-in-law, Betty Jean Simpson, Valdosta, GA; A number of nieces and nephews
As per her wishes she will be cremated and a memorial gathering will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, March 18, 2011 at Ms. Scruggs residence, 470 Lazy River Drive, Valdosta, GA 31602. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, March 17, 2011 at the home of George & Janice Scruggs, 4239 Netherfield Lane, Valdosta, GA. 31602. In lieu of flowers please make donations to a charity of your choice.
