Lena Gale (Brumfield) Blades – 71 of Valdosta, GA passed away on Sunday April 19, 2020 in her home after a lengthy illness. She was born on April 27, 1948 in Minden, Louisiana to the late Madelea Guy and Frank Brumfield. Lena worked at ITT Thompson Industries for 17 years and Colonial Bag Co. for 7 years. Lena was a very dedicated single mother who raised all three of her beloved children on her own. She also was also very fond of her grandchildren, and loved being with her family! Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings: Frank Brumfield, Carolyn Culpeper, and Daniel Wayne Brumfield.
Survivors include her sons, Eric Blades of Clyattville, GA, Brian “Troy” Blades of Valdosta, GA; daughter, Lena Blades of Valdosta, GA; Brothers, Paul Brumfield of Hahira, GA, James “JC” Brumfield of Cecil, GA; Granddaughters, Logan Blades of Clyattville, GA, Madelea Blades of Valdosta, GA; Numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Lena’s dear friend, Ms. Janice Bradford, her niece, Donna Culpeper, and her daughter-in-law, Tina Blades for everything they did for her!
Per her wishes, Lena is to be cremated and her family will hold a private inurnment at Friendship Cemetery in Hahira, Georgia at a later date. Special messages may be left to the family at
