Lester Eugene "Buddy" Davis Jr.-60
Of Valdosta, GA passed away Monday, June 8, 2015 at home after a lengthy illness. He was born in Bradenton, FL to the late Lester E. and Lois Atwell Davis. As a boy, Lester was a skilled pitcher in Lake Worth Minor League baseball. Lester also played baseball in Montgomery, AL. His teen and young adult years were spent making friends from coast to coast. In 1980 he moved to Valdosta where later joined his father at Lester Davis Used Cars and Trucks. In the mid 1980's he met Dorothy Hasty and they were married June 19, 1987. Upon Lester Sr.'s retirement, Lester Jr. already a wholesale car dealer started doing business as Jr.'s Used Car and Trucks located on US 41 South, which was the same location he had worked with his father. The "Buy here pay here" business helped many "Get back on the road". In January 1996 Lester accepted Jesus Christ as his savior and he was baptized. He was an active member in Faith Baptist Church of Valdosta, GA. After he accepted Jesus he witnessed every chance he got. After over 25 years in business failing heath forced him to close his dealership. Lester was a fighter! After closing Jr.'s Used Cars and Trucks he went back to school in August of 2009 when he received his General Education Diploma. He continued his education and attended Valdosta Technical College. Lester loved people and had many friends both near and far.
Survivors Include: His wife, Dorothy Davis of Valdosta, GA; Two Daughters, Opal Davis of Valdosta, GA; Kimberly Davis of Chattanooga, TN; Two sisters, Bonnie Davis Belmont of Valdosta, GA; Trish and Dan Price of St. Cloud, FL; and one brother, Bryon Davis of Valdosta, GA; four nieces; Corrie and Jeremy Duncan, Misty Mickel, Amber and Cory Breen, and Alyssa Price; two nephews, Brandon Rodgers and Raven Davis.
Services will be held Friday, June 12, 2015 at Faith Baptist Church located at 2700 N. Forrest St. in Valdosta, GA. There will be a fellowship meal in honor of Lester Davis, Jr. at 5:00PM Hall Family Center followed by a memorial service at 6:30PM Sanctuary Worship Center. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Faith Baptist Church for "Faith for Bibles" or to Park Avenue SDA Church for "Lester Davis memorial fund".
