Lige “Bud” Cook, Jr. – 83
Of Lakeland, Georgia passed away at his residence Thursday morning, September 8, 2022 after a lengthy illness. He was born August 15, 1939 in Lakeland, Georgia to the late Versie (Harrell) and Lige Bud Cook, Sr. Bud was a lifelong resident of Lakeland, Georgia where he made his career in the automotive industry as owner and operator of Bud Cook Paint and Body Shop as well as Bud Cook Wrecker Service. He was also a member of Lakeland Masonic Lodge #434 for more than 59 years. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his faithful fury friend, Bobo; sister, Lennie Cornelius; brothers, Hayward Cook, Howard Cook; brothers-in-law, Roy Thornton and J.F. Burkhalter.
Bud is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Helen Cook of Lakeland, Georgia; a son, Mark Cook of Lakeland, Georgia; two sisters: Beatrice Thornton and Louise Burkhalter, both of Lakeland, Georgia; special friend, Betty McKinnon of Nashville, Georgia; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, September 11, 2022 in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services. A private family graveside will be held at Empire Cemetery, Lakeland, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at the funeral home. Kind words and expressions of sympathy can be left for the family at
