Linda Most- 68
Of Valdosta, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at the Langdale Hospice House. She was born to Shirley Most and the late David Sidney Most on July 9, 1956, in Appleton, Wisconsin. Linda was a full professor at Valdosta State University’s Department of Library and Information Studies. Linda was a passionate advocate for birds and environmental conservation, dedicating much of her time to supporting initiatives that protected wildlife. Her professional life was equally distinguished, as she was deeply involved in numerous cultural and educational organizations. Linda was a proud member of the American Library Association, where she contributed to the advancement of library services and literacy. She also served as a board member of the South Georgia Regional Library, where she helped steer the library’s strategic direction and community outreach. In addition, Linda was an active participant in the Valdosta Symphony Guild, working to promote the arts and support local musical endeavors. Her commitment to the field of library science extended to her involvement with the Association for Library and Information Science Educators, where she engaged with fellow professionals to further the growth of the discipline. Linda earned her PhD from Florida State University, where her scholarly work set the foundation for her influential career. She also completed her undergraduate studies at Goucher College, where her passion for education and the arts was nurtured. Through her multifaceted involvement in libraries, the arts, and wildlife advocacy, Linda made a lasting impact on both her local community and the broader academic world. Along with her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Joshua Steven Most.
Survivors include her mother, Shirley Most of Valdosta, Georgia; sister, Maxanne Most (William Peterson) of Sagamore Beach, Massachusetts; sister, Sandy Lee Osborn of Newnan, Georgia; nephews: Samuel Joshua Most (Lilia Trissler) of Wickford, Rhode Island and Augustus Alfred Most of Aurora, Colorado.
Per her wishes she will be cremated with no additional services held. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Birdsong Nature Center, 2106 Meridian Road, Thomasville, Georgia, 31792,
