Lloyd Chandler Peeples Sr.

Lloyd Chandler Peeples, Sr. (“Lloyd”) - 93 died peacefully on the morning of Monday, September 18, 2017 at his home in Valdosta, Georgia. Lloyd was born on November 27, 1923 in Jasper, FL. After his high school graduation, he joined the Army and fought in World War II, receiving an honorable discharge for service to his country. He returned home and married Betty Thompson. Lloyd and Betty started a family and Lloyd attended pharmacy school at the University of Florida. Lloyd worked as a pharmacist for several years in Florida before joining the Florida Board of Pharmacy as an Investigator, subsequently presiding over the Orlando, FL Regional Field Office. He and Betty welcomed three children into their home. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren remember him as a kind, loving and devoted family man who encouraged them to pursue their goals. Lloyd was known by all for his faithfulness and commitment to Christ, his generosity and quick wit. He was an avid reader and passionate about making the world around him a better place.
Lloyd is survived by his wife of 71 years, Betty Peeples of Valdosta; his daughters and son-in-law: Toby Peeples Nickson of Monticello, FL, and Susan & Carl Meece of O’Brien, FL; his grandchildren: Lloyd Chandler Peeples, III, Jon David Peeples, Meredith Luke, Kristin Fecko and Lauren Meece; Special Caregivers: Marsha Holmes, Myra Davis, Wanda Thomas, Angela Jenkins and Santana Lewis. He is preceded in death by his son, Lloyd Chandler Peeples, Jr. and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, September 22, 2017 in the First Baptist Church of Valdosta, Georgia. A private family committal service will be held later that afternoon at Wellborn Cemetery, Wellborn, Florida. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services on Friday.
