Retired Lt. Col. Logan "Jack" Doub, Sr. – 82 of Valdosta slipped the surly bonds of the earth Friday, January 13, 2017 at his residence after a sudden illness. He was born on August 28, 1934 to the late Millard & Francis Bell Doub in Norfolk, VA. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force for over 22 years. He served as a pilot during the Vietnam War where he holds the record for over 570 combat missions in the F-100. After 22 years of flying, it was Jack's turn to do some time at the Pentagon. Filled with strange and horrible bureaucratic creatures and endless halls of the world's most dangerous paperwork, it was a labyrinth of horrors! Jack opted for retirement, but what to do... Ah, he had a degree in psychology, a gift of gab and was a universally likable guy. He would become a marriage counselor. How hard could it be, I mean really? This newest endeavor was short lived though, after posting a record of 1 win, 7 losses and 2 ties, the handwriting was on the wall. Jack belonged in the sky, his first love. He would fly for various organizations around the world. Commercial, military contracted, civil aviation, it didn't matter. He would criss cross the globe flying anywhere, with anyone, for any reason, always hoping for a tailwind. He flew until he was medically unable. Jack was a member of the Super Sabre Society and Commando Sabre, call sign "Misty", generally regarded as the Worlds Greatest Fighter Pilots. He was of the Christian faith. Survivors include: 2 Sons & Daughters-in-law: Butch & Kim Doub, Hahira, Scott & Angie Doub, Valdosta; 5 grandchildren: Jade Doub, Landen Doub, Luke Doub, Alexa Doub and Trey Fulford.
As per his wishes he will be cremated and no formal services will be held. In lieu of flowers please make donations to a charity that supports Homeless and Disabled Veterans. Sympathy may be expressed online at
