Of Hahira, GA passed away on April 27, 2017 at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on March 16, 1936 in Jersey City, NJ to the late John Holloway and Agatha McCloskey Holloway. After marriage, she raised her children in Brick and Forked River, NJ. She worked nearly two decades for WaWa Corporation as a store manager earning numerous awards including the prestigious Presidents Club. Upon retirement Lois moved to the quiet, peaceful, small town of Hahira, GA. It was here she pursued her two true passions, her gift of painting and love of animals. She rescued and raised far more puppies, dogs, kittens and cats to mention by name though she knew and loved each and every one. She will be missed tremendously for her preparing the best family holiday meals, teaching us the value of traditions. Most important her laughter. Lois loved a good laugh believing never to take life so serious that you can’t laugh or at least smile. The world has lost a priceless mother, grandmother, “Bawba”, and great-grandma. Along with her parents, Lois is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Thomas Gehring, Sr. and beloved Grandson, Executive Chef, Victor “Mike” Startek.
She is survived by her son Jeffrey Hallamore of New Jersey; daughter, Deborah & Jose Martinez of New Jersey; daughter, Heather & Corey Jarvis of Georgia; son, Thomas Gehring, Jr. of New Jersey; Grandchildren: Melissa, John, Ashley, Pamela, and Emily; Great Grandchildren: Riahna, John, Braeleigh, Liam, Gracie and Peyton; A number of nieces, nephews and extended family members and last but certainly not least her numerous “Fur babies”.
As per her wishes she will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date in New Jersey. Messages of sympathy may be expressed online at www.musicfuneralservices.com .
