Lonnie L. Coursey – 79
Of Lake Park, Georgia, passed away on March 27, 2025, in Valdosta, Georgia, after a lengthy illness. Lonnie was born on August 30,1945, in Baxley, Georgia, to the late Johnny Bomer Coursey and Ruth Mae Richardson. Lonnie’s favorite title was “Grandpa,” a name that filled him with pride and joy. He was an avid fan of TV westerns. Having served in the U.S. Navy, Lonnie held a deep respect for his country and the values of service and sacrifice. His love for the University of Georgia football team was unwavering. Additionally, he was a diehard fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers, enjoying their games whenever he could. Lonnie’s daily routine included catching up on the latest news, and he was a regular viewer of Fox News, where he kept up with the political landscape. He was a staunch Republican, and his conservative views shaped many of his conversations, making him a firm believer in the ideals that aligned with his party. Above all, Lonnie was a man who cherished family, tradition, and his personal convictions. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Blaine Coursey, and his brothers and sisters. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Christy Hatcher (Paul) of Lake Park, Georgia; grandchildren, Bennett Hatcher and Carson Hatcher; and brother, James Coursey of Melbourne, Florida. He is also survived by his special cousin, Celeste Prindaville (Tom) of Alpharetta, Georgia, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Westside Baptist Church, P.O. Box 632, Adel, Georgia, 31602 or Francis Lake Baptist Church in Lake Park, Georgia. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at Benevolence Baptist Church Cemetery, Valdosta, Georgia.
