Louise Richter Richards
Louise Richter Richards, 79, of Lake Park, Ga., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Ga., following a brief illness. She rests now with God and suffers no more.
She was born April 21, 1941, near Marianna, Fla., to the late W.O. “Jack” Richter and his wife, the late Lillie Mae Richter. She grew up in Port St. Joe, Fla., and graduated from Gulf County High School, followed by two years at business school. Louise worked as a bookkeeper until she married Ward Oakley Richards, also of Port St. Joe, in 1964. Their family moved to Lake Park in 1967.
She enjoyed sewing and University of Alabama football. She was a member of Lake Park Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 56 years; two brothers, Bo and Johnny Richter; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Richards and Helen Montgomery; two brothers-in-law, Rudy Richards and Randall Richards.
She is survived by two sons, Theodore Oakley “Terry” Richards II of Lake Park and Jack Westley Richards and his wife Keeley of Hillsborough, N.C.; two beloved grandchildren, Penelope Richards and Nicholas Richards of Hillsborough, N.C.; one brother-in-law, Billy Joe Richards of Gulf County, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Sue McCormick Richter of Donalsonville, Ga.; a special niece, Donna McCroan and her husband Gene of Port St. Joe, Fla.; two dear friends, Wilmer and Genice Deas of Lake Park; several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her church family.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no local visitation. The family asks those wishing to honor Louise’s memory to make a donation to Lake Park Christian Church, 403 W. Cotton Ave., Lake Park, Ga., 31636.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, 2021, at Holly Hill Cemetery in Port St. Joe, Fla., Pastor Glenn Davis officiating.
