Mack Briggs Mathis

Of Chiefland, FL, formally of Lakeland and St. Augustine, FL passed away Monday, February 16, 2009 at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born September 24, 1927 in Lanier County, Georgia to Mack Briggs Sr. and Essie Lena Kent Mathis. He was the Supervisor of Water and Sewer for the City of Lakeland and St. Augustine FL many years before his retirement. Many young men in Lanier County will always remember him for he and his wife, provided baseball and many other games at their home, also summer camping trips and swimming in Twin Lakes in Lake Park, GA. He served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corp. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lakeland, Georgia.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 19, 2009 in the First Baptist Church of Lakeland with burial following in Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, February 18, 2009 from 6-8 p.m.
