Of Lakeland, GA passed away Sunday, November 15, 2015 at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Ms. Cooper was born in Berrien County, GA on September 8, 1926, the eldest daughter of Buie C. & Dollie Patten-Cooper of Lanier County, GA. She grew up in north Lanier County through her teen years and graduated from the Lanier County High School. Her employment career was spent in Atlanta, GA and she was an avid world traveler and opera fan. She returned to South Georgia in the late 1980's for her retirement and spent the last few years of her life in Lakeland GA. Ms. Cooper was preceded by her parents, and younger sister, Martha A. Cooper-Blanton.

She is survived by her brother, Billy C. Cooper of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and a number of nieces and nephews: Mannis D. & Gail Blanton of Lakeland, GA; Jimmy L. & Kathy Blanton of Hahira, GA; Stephen & Deborah Cooper-Lee of Atlanta, GA; Grand-nieces & Grand-nephews: Brad and Dana Blanton-Boruff of Lakeland, GA; Timothy D. & Lori Blanton of Lakeland, GA; Elizabeth Lee of Atlanta, GA; Thomas & Carmen Blanton-Simpson of Hahira, GA; Jacob & Whitney L. Blanton of Hahira, GA; Great-Grand-nieces and Great-Grand-nephews: Bryce Boruff of Lakeland, GA, Alyssa G. Blanton of Lakeland, GA; Mary E. Simpson of Hahira, GA, and a number of cousins and extended family members.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at 11AM in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial to follow in the Samuel Register Patten burial plot at Burnt Church Cemetery, Lakeland, GA.
