Marcus “Mark” Aubrey Rowan, 85, of Lakeland, GA, died peacefully at the Langdale Hospice House in Valdosta, GA, on May 29th.

He was born in Cook County, GA, in 1938 to the late William Jessie Rowan, Sr. and Irene Lott Rowan. He grew up in the New River community outside of Lenox, GA. Following his school years, he worked various jobs in Georgia and Florida, including building pools, operating a service station, driving a truck, and hanging sheetrock. Marcus, known as Mark or Aubrey, was a masterful woodworker and furniture maker. His creations, crafted with love and precision, adorned the homes of his family and friends. His green thumb was evident in his lush garden, where he nurtured a variety of flowers and vegetables. Marcus was a man of few words, but his stories and jokes always brought laughter. His deep faith and love for his wife and family were unwavering. He was a devoted member of Beulah Holiness Baptist Church in Adel.

Along with his parents, Marcus is preceded in death by his wife, Freida Rowan, his son, Marcus Allen Rowan, his grandson, Joshua Dale Rowan, and his siblings, W.J. Rowan, Jr., Jane Griner, and Doris McSween.
