Margaret Greene Davis

Margaret Leveston Davis of Valdosta, Georgia passed away on Friday, June 23, 2023, at her home. She was born in Remerton, Georgia to the late Harris S. Greene Sr. and Annie Crumbley Greene on October 7, 1929. Ms. Davis worked as a service assistant with Bell South. After an early retirement, she attended Wiregrass and Don Tennant School of Property Management in Daytona, Florida. She worked in property management when she returned to Valdosta, and continued in the property management field in Valdosta, Adel, and Quitman until her death. Ms. Davis was active in various civic clubs, and her favorite was a volunteer at the Kidney Dialysis Center with Dr. Gerald S. Light. For one year, she served as the President of the Pioneers of America, an organization comprised of telephone employees, past and present. At her death, she was the sitting President of Remerton Development and Storage. Ms. Davis enjoyed the time traveling, cooking, and loving her grandchildren. She played basketball at Valdosta High School. She was a long-time member of Faith Baptist Church in Valdosta, Georgia. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Lonnie Eugene Davis; her son, Dana “Tony” A. Davis; sisters: Helen Sowell and Dorothy Stephenson; brothers: Harris Greene, Jr., Larry W. Greene, Jerry Greene; son-in-law, Tommy Griffis.
Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Griffis of Valdosta, Georgia; Son, Steven Eugene Davis Sr. and wife Kelly Brim Davis of Valdosta, Georgia, Linda Caskey Davis, former wife and remains close friend of the family; daughter-in-law, Dora Davis; Grandchildren: Steve Davis, Jr., Kristopher Griffis, William Davis, Kimberly Griffis Stahl, Dana Davis Cook, Melissa Evans, Karmen Davis; Great grandchildren: London Stahl, Presley Stahl, Clayton Griffis, Logan Griffis, Abbie Griffis, Cole Griffis, Emily Hastings, Thomas Cook, Danielle Cook, Ashlyn Evans, Braxton Evans, Steven Davis III, Austin Davis, Savana Davis, Will Davis, Carly Davis, Sam Heitluf; two great-great grandchildren: Raelynn Carr, Dru Davis; nieces and nephews: Claudette Greene, William Greene, Matt Stephenson, Kim Grigg, Jodie Scruggs, Paige Kearby, Scotty Greene, Cam Greene, Lynn Silberman, Tammi Kennedy Greene, Mark and Oliver Greene, Tanja Brannen, Mike Sowell, and Jeffery Sowell.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, June 26, 2023, in the Valdosta chapel of Music Funeral Services, with burial to follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Valdosta. The family will receive friends one hour to the service from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Monday, June 26, 2023, at the funeral home.
