On Saturday, November 26, 2022, a beautiful soul became an angel. She was born Margaret Frances Smith on September 24, 1943, in Columbia, South Carolina, to the late Clarence Albert Smith and Inez Hazel Smith, whom she met in heaven. Mrs. Johnson was a beloved wife, mother and nana, as well as a good, considerate and caring person. When she gave it was easy to see that it came straight from her heart, and she gave everyone around her the gift of a better world to live in. “We hope you will never forget how much we treasured you just being in our lives.” Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, U.S. Army Sgt. Robert H. Johnson, Sr., three of her siblings and a beloved great grandchild. Left to carry on her beauty are her sister and best friend Mrs. Ann “Lib” Sanders, her nephew Kenneth Sanders, and her niece Cheryl Ross, all from South Carolina; her daughter and son-in-law Deborah and Daniel Tinus of Texas; her daughter Brenda Shultz of Valdosta, Georgia; her son Robert H. Johnson, Jr. of Florida; her beloved grandchildren who called her “Nana”: Debbie Vera, Sophia Tinus, Emily Tinus, Candy Shultz, Sandy Shultz, Gage Johnson, and Ivy Johnson; and ten great grandchildren. "Mom left us a note which she said 'Grief is the price we pay for love. We loved those who have gone on above. My children, sister, and my beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren are the greatest thing I could ever have received. I thank God for each day I have had with you. Put your hands over your hearts and feel it beat, I’m always with you until we meet again in heaven.' Mom, your smile always brightened our days. Words can’t describe how much your love meant to each of us. May your days in heaven be as beautiful and bright as the ones you inspired in our lives. We love you always." Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, December 2, 2022, in the chapel of Music Funeral Services located at 3831 N. Valdosta Road, Valdosta, Georgia.
