Margaret Sharon Weldon, affectionately known as Margie, of Hahira passed away Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Presbyterian Home, Quitman, Ga. She was born in Evansville, Indiana on August 26,1932 to the late William Franklin Howell, Jr and Virginia Lee Howell. Margie married Alonzo Weldon (Dub) on June 6, 1952, in Yuma, Arizona and moved to Valdosta shortly after. Margie gave her life to Christ in 1957 and was a devoted member of Lee Street Church of God in its early years which became Forrest Street Church of God and later Abundant Life Church of God. Margie took her children to church every time the doors were opened. She instilled in each of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren the importance of being saved and being a devoted Christian. She left a legacy for her family to follow long after her days on earth were over. She taught Sunday School at Forrest Street Church of God for over 40 years, instilling in her students the same importance as well as rewarding the students with Cheetos every Sunday morning. Margie worked in sales audit at JCPenney in Valdosta for 20 years where she made many lasting friendships with co-workers. Margie was a loving mother and grandmother who told the truth no matter who you were. You never had to wonder where Margie stood on her Christian values and would tell you in a heartbeat if you were out of line. Margie was respected in her church and helped the pastor preach every Sunday morning and Sunday night from the second pew of the church. She read the bible completely though every year for 39 years until her eyesight made it impossible 2 years ago. Margie will be greatly missed by her family, friends, pastors and fellow church members. If Margie could tell everyone one thing in life it would be “to live for Christ is what matters most”. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alonzo (Dub) Weldon Jr, her sons Stephen Wesley Weldon, Andrew Wade Weldon and daughter-in-law Karen Culpepper Weldon; grandson, Christopher Payne, brothers, William Howell III, Robert Howell, Michael Howell and sister Sandra Fleming.
