Marie Johnson Ellis, 91 of Joshua, TX passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at her residence. She was born on September 24, 1920 in Hahira, GA to the late James Earley Johnson and late Frankie Mae Weatherington Johnson. Mrs. Ellis was a homemaker. Mrs. Ellis was a former member of Faith Baptist Church in Valdosta, GA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jesse Will Ellis, son, Wilbie "Buddy" Ellis and brothers: William Elwood Johnson, Raymond Johnson, and Earl Grey Johnson.
She is survived by her sisters Frankye Johnson Daughtery and Willie Bell Johnson of Valdosta, GA. Her children and their spouses: Jessie and Darrell Pearce, Hazel Ellis, Retha and Jeff Gray, Billy and Carol Ellis, Janice and Kenny Thompson, Jesse Will Jr. and Glenda Ellis. She is survived by nine grandchildren: Martha Ellis Moore, Maria Gray Corbett, Kim Pearce Reasoner, Michelle Pearce, Stephen Thompson, Shannon Thompson Poling, Jared Thompson, Misty Ellis and Jessica Ellis. She is also survived by 10 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Daniel Ellis, Mike Moore Sr., Mike Moore Jr., Wayne Montgomery, Danny Witten and David Goldsberry.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, April 9, 2012 in the Chapel of Music Funeral Services with Rev. Gene Wisehart of Faith Baptist Church, Valdosta, GA officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Valdosta, GA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Sunday, April 8, 2012 at the funeral home.
