Marilyn Joyce Downs

Marilyn Joyce Downs, 81, of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away, Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman, Georgia. She was born in Miami, Florida, November 26, 1940, to the late Mary Croft Brannan and Robert Brannan. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a devoted Christian and a long-time active member of Gateway Baptist Church. Mrs. Joyce was also a member of the Eastern Star. She was a Secretary with the Lowndes County High School. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter-in-love, Kathryn B. Mason.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Hugh Larson Downs of Valdosta, Georgia; her children: Harold Herb Mason, Jr., Cindy Joy Mason, Scott Alan Mason (Rhonda), Kelly Arnold (Glenn); grandchildren: Leslie Bath (Michael), Herb Mason, III, Laura Pere (Jason), Michelle Nixon, James Nixon, Scott Alan Mason, Jr., (Kati), Kara Rogers (Jerrett), Benjamin Mason, Jessica Arnold and Justin Arnold; great-grandchildren: Shelby, Kaiden, Gage, Everleigh and Makinleigh.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 O’clock P.M., Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Music Funeral Services, Valdosta. The family will be receiving friends from 12:00 O’clock until service time at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Quitman, Georgia.
