Marilyn Joan Register Stalvey, 82, of Barney, GA died Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at home after a brief illness. Mrs. Stalvey was born on July 9, 1937, to the late Jeptha John Register and Agnes Lucas Register. Mrs. Stalvey was a full-time wife, mother, and homemaker. She was an excellent cook. She enjoyed gardening and loved taking care of her animals and spending time with her family. She was a beloved “Granny” to all of her grandchildren and their friends. She was a member of Barney Baptist Church and loved being a part of that church family.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dewey and Sheryl Stalvey of Moultrie, GA; her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Gregory Cook of Crawfordville, FL; one grandson, Colin Smith of Berkeley, CA; six granddaughters, Kristen Gilbert and husband Clay of Burleson, TX; Erin Waldee of Moultrie, GA; Jordan Murphy and husband Jason of Crawfordville, FL; Megan Suazo and husband Salvador of Tijuana, Mexico; Lauren Stalvey of Moultrie, GA; and Betzy Cook of Crawfordville, FL; and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Ray Faircloth of Barney, GA; sisters-in-law Dollie Register of Dowling Park, FL and Iona Smith of Homerville, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her loyal and beloved dog, Holly.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Dewey T. Stalvey; and her six brothers, Jeptha Hugh Register; Vernon Leroy Register; Welby Ben Register; John Duane Register; George Emory Register; and Ulyss Jean Register.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2020, at Shiloh Fellowship Church Cemetery in Homerville, Georgia, with Rev. Dewey T. Stalvey, Jr., and Rev. Keith Wise officiating. Messages of sympathy may be expressed online at
