Mark Allen Lain- 67
Of Camden County, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at his residence in Valdosta, Georgia surrounded by his family. He was born on July 22, 1958, in Kewanee, Illinois. Mark spent his life serving others. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy for ten years before going on to dedicate more than 25 years to the Camden County Fire Department, where he retired as a Captain. Being a Captain wasn’t just a job for Mark—it was who he was, and he took great pride in the brotherhood and friendships he built along the way. When he wasn’t at the firehouse, Mark was happiest out on the water. Offshore fishing on his boat, Break-Away, was his favorite escape and his greatest joy. Those who knew and loved him will remember his big heart, his sense of purpose, and the peace he found at sea.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 41 years, Kathryn Lain of Camden County, Georgia; children: Joseph Lain (Anna) of Camden County, Georgia, Dawn Butler (Josh) of High Point, North Carolina, and Kristen Ahlf of Louisville, Kentucky; grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Ashtyn, Cali, Destyn, Gavin, Whitton, Annie, Johnathan, Nicholas, Austin, Noah, and Gabriel.
