Of Valdosta, GA passed Thursday, April 3, 2014 at her residence after a sudden illness. She was born January 7, 1930 the youngest of three siblings to the late Buie Chester and Dolly Madelyn Patten Cooper in Berrien County, Georgia. In 1936 the family took up a farming residence in northern Lanier County on lands formerly owned by Martha's Grandfather, Samuel Register Patten. She was raised on this little family operated farm. In the early to mid-1940's she met a neighbor's nephew, Mannis Daulton Blanton Sr., just as he was finishing his service to our country in WWII, the couple married on April 8, 1946. The newly weds' lived in several residences between Lanier, Berrien, and Lowndes Counties over the years until 1962, when they settled permanently in the Bemiss Community of Lowndes County GA. In this community the couple raised their two sons. Martha Ann Cooper Blanton retied from South Georgia Medical Center in 2002 as the ER registration clerk. Mannis D. Blanton Sr. and Martha Ann Cooper Blanton continued to reside in the Bemiss community the remainder of their lives. She is survived by two sons; Mannis Daulton "Dee" Blanton Jr. and his wife, Cynthia Gail Swilley- Blanton, both of Lakeland; Jimmy Lawson "Jim" Blanton and his wife, Bonita Kathleen " Kathy" Reddick- Blanton, both of Hahira; Grandchildren: Dana A. Blanton and Brad Boruff, Timothy Daulton and Lori Blanton, of Lakeland, Carmen Kathleen Blanton and Thomas Simpson of Hahira, Jacob Lawson Blanton and his wife Whittney Royals Blanton of Valdosta; Great-grandchildren: Bryce Boruff, of Lakeland, ME "Emmy" Simpson and Ava Simpson, both of Hahira, Alyssa Blanton of Lakeland, and Piper Blanton of Valdosta. Mrs. Blanton is also survived by her sister Jeneatte Cooper, of Lakeland, and her brother, Billy C. Cooper, of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins round out Mrs. Blanton's extended family ties. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday April 7, 2014 in the Cherry Creek Baptist Church on Skipper Bridge Road in Lowndes County, GA with burial in the Burnt Church Cemetery near Lakeland, Ga. The family will receive friends at the funeral home between 3:00 and 5:00 P.M. Sunday April 6, 2014 at the funeral home.
