A WORKMAN THAT NEEDETH NOT BE ASHAMED
Marvin Del Collins “Preacher Man” was born on February 25, 1957 to his late parents in Raleigh, North Carolina and was raised by his late adopted parents, Willie Collins and Leebell Collins (Liles) of Valdosta, GA. Marvin Del was an only child but was raised alongside his cousin Hubert Beckwith who he grew to love like a brother.
Marvin Del as a child attended Collins Elementary School, Attucks Middle School and graduated from Hollywood Hills High School before embarking on his post-secondary education journey that was nothing short of amazing; all the glory goes to God. Marvin Del went on to attend Valdosta State University, Broward Community College, Miami Christian College and Florida Bible College where he pursued a degree in computer programming. Marvin Del would later spend some time working as a Computer Programmer for Trinity Broadcasting Network.
In the midst of his college career, Marvin accepted Christ as his personal savior in 1979 and thus began his life of service to the Lord. Marvin Del would become an Evangelist where he began his life work of winning souls for the Lord one at a time. Later in March of 1982 Marvin then answered the call of God to the Christian Ministry as became an Ordained Minister at Faith Baptist church here in Valdosta, GA. Marvin founded the Miletus Community Church which would later become Ephesus Bible Church. Marvin Del participated in countless outreach ministries in addition to also forming the Marvin Del Collins Evangelistic Association. After years of service, Marvin then went on to attend Calvary Christian College & Seminary where he earned a Bachelors of Ministry, Masters of Ministry, Doctorate of Ministry and last but not least a Doctorate of Philosophy. Marvin continued his work in the ministry serving God and winning souls until the good Lord decided to call him home. He became affectionately known to many as “The Preacher Man”. To his family he was sweetheart, Da, Grandaddy and much more. Well done faithful servant; well done!
Marvin leaves behind to cherish his memories and life’s work to his wife, Victoria Collins; his daughter, Shirley Collins; his sons: Marvin Daniel and wife Shawanda Collins, Charles and wife Regina Campbell, Lamar and wife Elizabeth Campbell. Marvin also leaves behind a host of grandkids(32) and great grandkids(13).
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Faith Baptist Church, 2700 Barack Obama Blvd, Valdosta, GA 31602 with burial to follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, May 10, 2024 at Music Funeral Services, 3831 North Valdosta Rd, Valdosta, GA 31602.
