Of Lakeland, GA passed away Friday night July 5, 2013 at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta after a lengthy illness. He was born September 23, 1927 in Burlington, West Virginia to the late John Preston and Eleanor Connell. He served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years before his retirement. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son Marvin Connell, Jr., a sister Laura Manning and a brother John Connell. He was an avid fisherman, loved the outdoors and water. He was also Baptist by faith.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday July 8, 2013 in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial in New Ramah Cemetery in Ray City, GA with full military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday July 8, 2013 from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M prior to the services. Sympathy may be expressed online at www.musicfuneralservices.com .
