Marvin B. Mullis, Sr. – 85

Of Valdosta passed away Monday, December 20, 2010 at his residence. He was born on August 25, 1925 in Fitzgerald, GA to the late Daniel Lester & Annie Ruth Feagan Mullis. Mr. Mullis served in the United States Navy in World War II and the Korean War. He was a self employed insurance agent for over 50 years. He was a member of Grace Community Chapel where he was a deacon. He served as president of the LUTC and CLU, was a Charter Financial Consultant and an Insurance Instructor at Valdosta Technical College. He was an active member of the Valdosta Gideon Chapter, Valdosta Rotary Club, served as President of the Lions Club and served as a volunteer at South Georgia Medical Center and Hospice of South Georgia. He loved playing golf and was active in physical fitness.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Onie Pearl Mullis, a son who was killed during Vietnam, Marvin B. "Tex" Mullis, Jr., a sister and 2 brothers

He is survived by his, Daughters & Sons-in-law, Patsy & Ray Welch, Moultrie, GA, Bonnie & Jeff Carter, Atlanta, GA, Ruthie & Wesley Gay, Valdosta, GA; Sons & Daughters-in-law, Gene & Sandi Mullis, DuPont, GA, Joe & Pat Mullis, Valdosta, GA; 15 Grandchildren; 19 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great Great Grandson; Brother & Sister-in-law, Daniel & Emma Mullis, Florida; Sister-in-law, Juanita Johnson Mullis, Valdosta, GA; Special Friends, Marilyn Ellis, Valdosta, GA, Carole Stembridge Ausum, Valdosta, GA, Christine Gay, Valdosta, GA, Myrna Rainey, Valdosta, GA

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, December 23, 2010 in the Grace Community Chapel with Pastor T.C. Norris and Elder Bob Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Mr. Mullis will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Gideon International, P.O.
