Of Valdosta passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2009 in South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on June 3, 1935 in Atlanta, GA to the late William & Alice Weldon Martin. She was a member of Azalea City Church of God, where she loved her Sunday School Class, and a member of TOPS # 38 Valdosta Chapter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Odis "Big O" Owen Akins and a granddaughter, Angela Lynn Akins.
Survivors include:Daughter, Diann Blalock, Valdosta, GA, Sons and Daughter-in-law, Ronnie Akins, Valdosta, GA, Steve and Debbie Akins, Valdosta, GA, Grandchildren, Michael Akins, Dan & Christie Akins, Shauna & Larry Johnson, Jason & Jessica Green, Ashley Gaudry, Jason Gaudry, Stehpeny & Richie Pollock and Stephen Akins, Great Grandchildren A.J. Akins, Kaden Akins, Zack Johnson, Caleb Johnson, Brianna Johnson, Maleena Johnson, Makinzie Green, Emily Gaudry, Hunter Akins, Brae Lee Bowling, Kayla Akins, Stevie Akins, Kobe Pollock and Kadance Pollock, Brother, Wallace Dickerson, Several nieces, nephews and extended family members
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, September 19, 2009 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial to follow in Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, September 18, 2009 at the funeral home.
