Mary Nell Watson Chason Yarbrough, age 92, went to be with the Lord September 27, 2022 at her home in Lakeland, Georgia surrounded by family, friends, and caregivers. She was born November 4, 1929 in Berrien County, Georgia to the late William Marcus Watson and Mary Eldia (Boyett) Watson. She completed a four-year degree in Education at Valdosta State College at a time one could teach with only a two-year degree. Mrs. Chason Yarbrough taught for 30 years in the Lanier County School System before retiring. She enjoyed spending her summers canning, freezing vegetables, and working in her flower gardens. Mrs. Chason Yarbrough often said she loved "digging in the dirt", planting seeds, and watching it all grow with the tender care she provided. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Lakeland, Georgia. Mrs. Chason Yarbrough was preceded in death by her first husband of 38 years, J.N. (Buck) Chason; second husband, Futch Yarbrough, son-in-law J C Browning, son-in-law Lee Kirbo, 2 sisters and 7 brothers.
She is survived by 3 daughters: Wanda Royals of Lakeland, Georgia, Sandra Browning of Lakeland, Georgia, and Charlotte Kirbo of Camilla, Georgia; 5 stepdaughters: Carolyn (J.W.) Herren of Nashville, Georgia, Sandra (B.W. Jr.) Warren of Baxley, Georgia, Wanda (Rick) Farber of Marietta, Georgia, Marilyn (Gene) Sellars of Lakeland, Georgia, and Deborah (David) Young of Austin, Texas; 7 grandchildren: Tina Royals Steed of Lakeland, Georgia, Chris (Becky) Royals of Lake Park, Georgia, Steven Royals of Lakeland, Georgia, Aaron (April) Chadwick of Nashville, Georgia, Michael (Amber) Chadwick of Lakeland Georgia, Alicia (Joey) Shiver of Camilla, Georgia, and Ashley (Michael) Lamb of Camilla, Georgia; 14 great grandchildren; 8 great great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Geraldine Chason and many nieces and nephews. The Chason Family would like to thank the dedicated Caregivers: McKenzie Royals (also a great granddaughter), Vanessa Frazier, Alisha Harnage, and Connie Adams. Funeral Services will be held at 2 o’clock pm, Saturday, October 1, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Lakeland. The service will be live streamed from First Baptist Church of Lakeland Facebooks page beginning at 2 o'clock pm. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
