Mary Jane Fanning

Mary Jane Fanning, age 92, of Lakeland, Georgia, passed away on April 2, 2024, at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on March 11, 1932, in Tyrone, Oklahoma, to the late Neal Montgomery and Bernice Evelyn (Weller) Mann. Jane was a military spouse, homemaker, and caretaker who enjoyed traveling, gardening, and a detailed seamstress. She was a long-term faithful member of New Bethel Baptist Church. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Fanning; her infant son, James Fanning; her son, Wayne Fanning; and her sister, Neola May Nyberg.
Her survivors include her son, Walter Neal Fanning of Lakeland, Georgia; daughter, Jane Rogers and husband Randy of Athens, Georgia; sister, Evelyn Kay Mingo and husband John of Schroon Lake, New York; grandchildren, Heather Gaskins and husband Brian of Hahira, Georgia, Kimberly Johnson and husband Joseph of Lakeland, Georgia, Christopher Rogers of Boston, Massachusetts, Jonathan Rogers and wife Abby of Indianapolis, Indiana; great grandchildren: Carley, Brooke, Caleb, Stephanie, Jenna, and Logan.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM, Friday, April 5, 2024, at New Bethel Baptist Church with burial to follow in New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
