Mary Taylor Morris, 68, of Lakeland, GA, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2015 following a short illness at South GA Medical Center. She was born August 14, 1946 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Richard Monroe Taylor and Mattie Lou Sims. She met and married the love of her life, Thomas Richard Morris, Sr., and shortly after in 1989, Mary and her family moved to Lakeland, GA where they made a life full of memories of love.
She was affectionately known as Nanny, not only by her family, but also by all of her babies at Carol's Kidz where she spent most of her time with her daughter, Carol. Along with spending time with her family, Nanny enjoyed drinking coffee, visiting thrift stores, having good conversations with good friends, spoiling her grandchildren, and anxiously awaiting the arrival of her second great-grandson in September, Corbin Glen Littleton.
She was a member of the Lakeland Church of God since the early 2000s, where she loved and served her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Sarah Joe Green, and loving husband, Thomas Richard Morris. Mary is survived by her daughter, Carol Morris Browning of Lakeland; daughter-in-law, Amanda Wallace Adrian Paredes of Ray City; sons David Lee Morris of Jacksonville, FL; Thomas Richard Morris, Jr. of New Orleans; Timothy Wallace of Texas; Daniel Wallace of Alabama; and William Wallace of Pueblo, CO; nine Grandchildren; Hallie Tad, Brody Katelyn, Austin, Richard Kaylee, Rachael, Lillian, Lacey, Scotty; all of Lakeland, and Harmony of Jacksonville, FL. As well as one great grandson, Jace Brown Lakeland. She also leaves behind brothers Richard Stancil Decatur, AL; Houston Howie Boca Raton, FL; and sister Peggy Logan Locus Fork, AL, as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, July 23, 2015 in the Lakeland Church of God with burial to follow in Fender Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening Wednesday, July 22, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home. Sympathy may be expressed online at
