Mary R. Rau – 75

Of Valdosta passed away Sunday, December 06, 2009 at her residence after a lengthy illness. She was born May 8, 1934 in Atkinson County, GA to the late Joe Ed & Sallie Mae Mercer Giddens. She lived and worked as a waitress in the Albany, GA area for about 45 years before moving to Valdosta in 2003. She was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church and the Red Hat Society. Her sisters, Louell Bowen, Jerry Giddens and brothers, Harvey Giddens, C.S. Giddens, L.R. Giddens, Larry Giddens and Leo Giddens preceded her in death.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 8, 2009 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with the Rev. Wayne Dawkins. A Graveside service will be held at 2:30 P.M. Tuesday in the Mora Missonary Baptist Church Cemetery in Atkinson County, GA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
