Marzetta Jane Decker White

July 15, 1920 — December 14, 2017

Marzetta Jane Decker White - 97 of Lakeland, FL passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017 at her son’s residence after a lengthy illness. She was born in Binghamton, NY on July 15, 1920 to the late Frank and Irene (Thornton) Decker. Ms. White worked for Remington Rand in Elmira, NY for 23 years. During World War II, she worked on the Norden bombsite at Eclipse. She then worked for the Republican National Committee under President Kennedy where she received one of her most prized possessions during this time, a Gold Seal invitation to the inauguration of President Nixon. Also during her time working with the Republican Committee she prepared and served Governor Rockefeller and his wife. The family relocated to Lakeland, FL in the early 1970’s. They operated a successful cabinet shop for many years and also a gift and floral shop at the Detroit Tiger’s training center in Lakeland, Fl. She enjoyed painting (which she started at age 80), ceramics, crochet, cooking, embroidery and spending time with family. Marzetta was Baptist by faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milo White, son, Larry White and sisters, Dorothy Ketchum and Edith Decker.
Survivors Include: Sons & Daughters-in-laws: Richard & Thirlene White, Ray City, GA, Rodney & Diana White, Ocala, FL, Mike and Linda Gail White, Valdosta, GA; Daughter-in-law: Mae White, Shelbyville, TN; 13 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 19 great great grandchildren and Caregiver, Kelsey Durrance
The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Music Funeral Services, Lakeland, GA. A funeral service will be held in Lakeland, FL on Monday. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Calvary Connection Church, 3460 Knights Academy Road, Valdosta, GA 31605 or a charity of your choice. Sympathy may be expressed online at www.musicfuneralservices.com . The White family is being cared for by the professional and caring staff of Music Funeral Services.
