Dr. Maurice William Lindauer – 88
Of Valdosta, GA passed away on Monday, July 22, 2013 in South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on September 25, 1924 in Millstadt, IL to the late Herbert J and Pearl Maserang Lindauer. He received a Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree from Washington University in St. Louis, MO and then attended Harvard University obtaining a Master's of Education Degree. He also received a PHD in chemistry at FSU. He retired as head of the Chemistry Department at Valdosta State University. Dr. Lindauer was a member of the American Chemical Society, Society of Sigma XI, and the Harvard Club of Georgia. He was a member of First Christian Church. His hobbies included wood working, reading, and watching the Atlanta Braves. He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
His survivors include, Wife of 67 years: Jane Ruth Lindauer of Valdosta, GA; Daughters: Jane & Lamar Elder of Hazelhurst, GA; Rosemary & Bill Brannen of Valdosta, GA; Son: Maurice Jack Lindauer of Valdosta, GA; Grandchildren: Jennifer Hufford, Johnathan Elder, Ben Brannen, Rebecca Karlowicz, Ashley Lindauer, Lauren Lindauer, and Austin Lindauer; 2 Great Grandchildren: Cole Hufford, and Marin Karlowicz; Sister-in-Laws: Marian Hudson & Amaryllis Burchette; Several Nieces and Nephews; And extended Family members.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at the First Christian Church in Valdosta, GA with burial to follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday one hour prior to service at the church.
