Melvin L. Blankenship – 83
Of Hahira, Georgia passed away Friday, May 27, 2022, peacefully at his home surrounded by family and very close friends. Melvin was born on November 04, 1938, to the late Cordie Kate Ely and Buster Brown Blankenship in Dublin, Texas. Mr. Blankenship was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Having attained the rank of Master Sergeant he retired in 1978 after faithfully serving his country for 20 years. More recently he retired from Auto Zone in Valdosta GA. In addition, he was well known in South Georgia for his clock repairs. He was of the Pentecostal faith and a member of Swilley Hill Church of God. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Lillian Blankenship.
Survivors include his daughter, Sabrina (Terry) Pardue of Springfield, Tennessee; sister, Francis Cunningham of Vernon, Texas; brother, Bobby Blankenship (Claudette) of Lewisville, Texas; along with a grandchild, nieces, nephews and special friend/caregiver, Maxine Chaney of Valdosta.
Per Mr. Blankenship’s request, he will be memorialized by cremation with no formal services. Messages of sympathy may be left for the family by visiting
