Of Valdosta, GA passed away Monday, May 10, 2021 at Fellowship Home after a lengthy illness. He was born on August 14, 1942 in Atlanta, GA to the late Metz & Christine (Gurley) Swords. Michael served in the United States Army and served a tour in Vietnam. He attended Mercer University, then continued his studies at Atlanta Law School to earn his law degree. After graduation he worked for numerous banks in legal compliance, eventually retiring from Bank of America. He enjoyed reading history books, watching NFL & college football, hiking, watching movies and traveling.
Survivors Include: Daughter & Son-in-law: Kelly & James Beck, Cumming, GA; Son & Daughter-in-law: Douglas & Alexis Swords, Valdosta, GA; Grandchildren: Julie Beck, Olivia Beck, Liam Swords and Lane Swords; Sister: Sylvia Graham, Summerfield, FL.
The family will receive friends and family from 2:00 – 4:00 PM Thursday, May 20, 2021 at the funeral home. Military honors will be rendered at 3:00 PM during the visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family asks to please make donations to the Salvation Army. Sympathy may be expressed online at www.musicfuneralservices.com .
