Midge Abercrombie Martin - 59
Of Valdosta, GA passed away on February 6, 2016 at her residence. She was born on April 17, 1956 in West Palm Beach, FL to Stanton and Shirley Caldwell Abercrombie. She was a member of the Northside Baptist Church. Along with her father, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Joe Martin, Sr., and a sister, Elaine Oppelt. Midge was a loving mother, sister, and friend. She was a gentle, kind-hearted soul who always put the needs of others before her own. Her love for her children and family was by far her greatest passion. She touched many people through her faith, and those who called her their friend were blessed beyond measure. Outside of her friends and family, she had a true love of life and enjoyed cooking and caring for others, a deep appreciation for music, the beauty of nature, gardening, the ocean, fishing and simply making others happy with her kind spirit and sense of humor. She had an infectious smile and laugh that could brighten the day. She was also accomplished professionally and obtained her bachelor's degree from Valdosta State while balancing motherhood and work. She had a full, diverse, and rewarding career in business which began working in her family's business. She made a deep and lasting impact on all who knew and loved her and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 11, 2016 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Sympathy may be expressed online at
