Of Ray City, passed away early Tuesday morning July 19, 2011 at Louis Smith Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born July 20, 1927 in Berrien County, Georgia to the late John S. & Della Connell Fender. She worked at the Little Griffin Hospital in Valdosta, now known as South Georgia Medical Center in the Newborn Nursery and later became the Director of the Moody Air Force Base Child Care Center. She was a member of the Ministry Baptist Church, Ray City, GA. She is preceded in death by her husband, George P. Hamm, Sr.; Son-In-Law, Donnie R. Mathis; and a special friend, Howard Boyette, Sr.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2011 in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial in the Cat Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today which is her 84th Birthday, Wednesday, July 20, 2011 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Music Funeral Services of Lakeland is serving the family.
