Mildred “Millie” Kirkman Johnson, age 82, of Lake Park, Georgia passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 10, 1940, in the town of Fayetteville, North Carolina to her parents, Calvin Talton and Margaret Lois (Cole) Kirkman. Grandma Millie loved to be around her grandchildren that she cared for often and loved tremendously. As much as she enjoyed collecting golf balls, she loved ruffling feathers more. Along with her parents, Mrs. Johnson is preceded in death by her son, Franklin Lawrence “Larry” Culverhouse (children Michael Eric and Ashley), one granddaughter, Tara Bradley (child Bishop Richards), and one brother Calvin Kirkman.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband, James Daniel “J.D.” Johnson of Lake Park, Georgia and four living children; Joseph Calvin Culverhouse and wife Rhonda of Freeport, Florida (children Destiny, J.C., JoJo); Cynthia Jensen and husband John of Lake Park, Georgia (children JJ and Courtney, Melissa, Brittany, and Kevin); daughter, Kimberley Hosey of Christiansburg, Virginia (children Mariah and Jammie) ; Adonna C Smith and David Coleman of Valdosta, Georgia (children Nathan E Smith II {wife Catherine Elizabeth Smith and grandson Nathan Ellis Smith} and Golden Costner Smith); surviving sister, Judith Sudduth and husband Tom of Gainesville, Florida; surviving brother, Larry Kirkman and wife Barbara. A plethora of wonderful loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. She was blessed to have two great-great grandchildren Christopher and Harmony.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Friday, May 5, 2023, at the former Twin Lakes Presbyterian Church, 5474 Worthington Triangle, Lake Park, Georgia, 31636. A celebration of life will follow the visitation starting at 6:00 PM on Friday, May 5, 2023. A private ceremonial burial will take place on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Lake Park Cemetery, Ocean Pond Road, Lake Park, GA 31636. A service of faith will be conducted by Deacon Columbus Carter.
