Milton Leigh "Grumpy" Burkett – 71
Of Pearson, GA passed away Friday morning Sept. 5, 2008 in Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA after a brief illness. He was born in Chester, West Virginia and lived in Ohio before moving to Pearson about 6 years ago. He served his country in the US Navy for 15 years before retirement and working for the U.S. Postal Services. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, DAV, and the Fleet Reserve. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Pearson.

Daughter and Son-in-Law – Lisa and Jonathan Odom – Pearson, GA
Sons – Robert Burkett – Peabody, MA
Brian Burkett – Ft. Lee, VA
Brother – Marlin Burkett – Portland, OR
Grandchildren – Amanda, Ashley, Emily, Anna, Veronica, Vernon, and Sara
Great Grandson – Kenny

Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Monday in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial in Guthrie Cemetery in Berrien County. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon between 6:00 and 9:00 P.M. Sympathy may be expressed online at www.musicfuneralservices.com .
