Monroe Sapp – 75 of Lakeland, GA passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, GA. He was born on July 11, 1943 in Palatka, FL to the late Dewey and Bethany (Gurganious) Sapp. Mr. Sapp served in and retired from the United States Army after 20 years of service. After his time in the military, Monroe worked for and retired from Chaparral after 20 years. Mr. Sapp was a hard-working man that loved his family dearly, his grandkids were the light of his life. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, J.M. Sapp, Isaac Sapp, Sister, Viola Hamilton; and half-brothers, James Sapp, Jasper Sapp and John Henry Sapp.
Survivors include his Wife of 46 years, Dorothy “Dot” Sapp of Lakeland, GA, 2 daughters, Tammie and James “Cricket” Smith of Robbinsville, N.C., Carol and Danny Purvis of Lakeland, GA. 5 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren, Brothers and Sisters-in-law, Kirby Sapp (Becky Register) of Lakeland, GA, Gwendolyn and Diane Sapp of Ray City, GA, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, January 13, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Messages of sympathy may be expressed online at
