Nancy Mcintosh Pafford

Nancy McIntosh Pafford-84 Of Lakeland passed away Friday, June 15,2018 at Langdale Hospice House after a brief illness. She was born in Waycross , GA to the late Roscoe and Mercie (Tillman) McIntosh on January 24,1934. Nancy attended Georgia Southern University where she earned her bachelors degree. She taught school at Lanier County Primary School for over 44 years before retiring in Lakeland. During this time she owned and operated a baton twirling school, where she taught young girls how to twirl. She showed off her twirling skills as she also twirled with fire. As a coaches wife, Nancy was the Lanier County Cheerleading Sponsor where she coached high school students how to cheer, show school spirit at all times and how to always back the Bulldogs with pride. After retiring from Lakeland, Nancy moved to Cherokee N.C. where she taught in the school system on the reservation for 10 years. She attended the Cherokee Methodist Church where she played the piano for services. Nancy worked for the Cherokee Historical Association in the summers for the outdoor drama “Unto These Hills”. Having love for her Lanier County she moved back home and continued showing her love for her community. Nancy wrote and directed the “Follies” held every Labor Day during Lakeland’s Flatlander Weekend for many years bringing smiles and laughs to sold out weekend crowds using local talent to fill the stage. She was a member of Unity Methodist Church where she played the piano for several years. Nancy also published 4 books to share her love of reading and the love she had for the Cherokee Nation. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William “Fuzz” Pafford and son Bryan Pafford.
Survivors include her son and “daughter in love”, Tim and Teresa Pafford.
Funeral services will be held at Unity United Methodist Church at 11:00AM, Monday June 18,2018 with burial immediately following in church cemetery. She will be placed in the church 1 hour prior to service. Visitation will be held on Sunday June 17, 2018 from 4:00-6:00 pm at Music Funeral Home of Lakeland.
