Nell Snipes passed away on March 23rd surrounded in love by her family and friends. She knew she was loved, had faith in her Lord, and has gone to sing in her eternal home in Heaven. Nell was married to her high school sweetheart of 59 years, Earl Snipes, of Ray City, GA. She was the mother of Denny Wagner of Richmond, VA. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Kevin Wagner, and her two granddaughters Sara and Jamie Wagner, and her daughter-in-law Elizabeth (Snipes) Mier, and grandchildren, William, Sophia, and Elliott Snipes, all of Rochester, Michigan. She is pre-deceased by her cherished son, Ron Snipes, of Rochester, Michigan, and her parents Mr. and Mrs. Walter Joe Sangster of Ray City, GA. She is also survived by her sister, Betty Freeman, of Ray City, GA. She was a long-time member of Ray City Baptist Church and also enjoyed participating in churches all over the states during their life in the Air Force. Nell and Earl spent years in Florida, Ohio, Texas, Hawaii, Illinois, Washington DC, Virginia and returned back to her father’s beautiful farm in Ray City.
Nell was a Registered Nurse, worked in hospitals, clinics and was a school nurse. She was a wonderful mother who volunteered for everything possible for her family, kids and her grandkids. She loved God, her family, friends, her animals and being silly and having fun. She was a dedicated volunteer at the Ray City Senior Citizens Center and also delivered Meals on Wheels to local residents.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Ray City First Baptist Church with burial to follow in Beaver Dam Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 29, 2019 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Messages of sympathy may be expressed online at
