Of Valdosta passed away Monday, March 15, 2010 in the Presbyterian Home. She was born on September 7, 1926 to the late Harry Edward, Jr. and Mamie Isabelle Smith Martin in Savannah Georgia, where she grew up on Red Gate Dairy Farm. Also, she was a graduate of Louisiana State University. She was of the Presbyterian faith. For over 10 years she owned and operated ABC Playschool/Kindergarten in Valdosta. Affectionately known by her parents and students as "Miss Nelle". During her career Miss Nelle touched many lives. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lucy Martin Stewart, sister, Harriet M. Whittemore, and former husband, Fluker G. Stewart.
She is survived by her, Sons & Daughter-in-law, Jeff & Becky Stewart, Valdosta, GA; Granddaughters, Macy Stewart, Athens, GA and Melissa Stewart, Valdosta, GA
; Sister, Patricia M. Smith, Savannah, GA; Brother, Harry E., III & Carolyn Martin, Atlanta, GA; A number of nieces and nephews
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, March 19, 2010 in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM Friday, March 19, 2010 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Lucy Martin Stewart Voice Scholarship at Valdosta State University in care of VSU Foundation, 1500 North Patterson Street, Valdosta, GA. 31698
