Of Valdosta passed away early Thursday morning June 17, 2004 in Lakehaven Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. He was born in Clinch County on January 16, 1929 to the late Newton & Viola Cox Chauncey and had lived most of his life in Lowndes County. He was employed by Thompson Industrial Company as a truck driver for 37 years. He was of the Church of God faith. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Dorothy Yeomans, Ora Pearl Bennett, Nezzie Howling, and a brother, Cecil C. Chauncey.

Funeral services were at 2:00 P.M. Saturday June 19, 2004 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with the Rev. Michael Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Wayfare Cemetery in Echols County.
