Norma Lucille Hendrickson

Norma L. Hendrickson, 86, of Lakeland, GA, passed away Friday morning, October 17, 2008 at Louis Smith Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born June 8, 1922, in Ankeny, Lee County, Iowa to the late Charles Lee and Elsie Ann McCullough Kelsey. She graduated in 1940 from Newport Harbor High School, Costa Mesa, CA. She worked as a file clerk, keypunch operator and in child care for 42 years, retiring in 1985. She resided in Valdosta since 1997 and at Lakeland Villa Convalescent Center since 2003. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, where she participated in the choir. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Calvin and Hugh Kelsey, and one sister Helen G. Barker.

She leaves to cherish her memory one son, David Hendrickson, Valdosta; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Smith, Valdosta; one grandson, Michael Hendrickson and fiancée Lori Gullekson, Ypsilanti, Mi.; four granddaughters, Kathryn William Murchie, Susan Robert May, Donna Donald Petty, Julie Benjamin Yates, all of Valdosta; 9 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and many special friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 21, 2008 in New Bethel Baptist Church, 5206 New Bethel Road, Valdosta, with burial following in the church cemetery. She will be placed in the church one hour prior to service. The family will receive friends Monday, October 20, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
