Norman Ethridge Roberts
Norman Ethridge Roberts, age 87 of Valdosta, GA. left this earthly home to be with his heavenly father on January 16, 2007 after a lengthy illness.
He was born on November 6, 1919 to the late Willie Mae Benefield Roberts and Jessie R. Roberts of Tifton, GA. He grew up in Ray City, GA. on a family farm with nine brothers and two sisters.
He met his lovely bride Mary Gladys Lancaster of Nashville, GA. and they were wed on January 26, 1941. On February 22, 1942 a daughter, Mae Belle Roberts was born.
In 1948 the family moved to Miami, FL. where he raised his family and worked as a carpenter for Frank J. Rooney and various others until he retired. He was a member of the Carpenters Local Union of Miami, FL and Gainesville, FL. They moved from Miami, FL to Orlando, FL where they lived until purchasing a store in Naylor, GA. and moved there to run their store. After a couple of years and a serious accident preventing him from working they purchased a home and moved to Valdosta, GA where they remained until his departure.
He was preceded in death by his 5 brothers, Milton Roberts of Lenox, GA., Hillsman Roberts of Ray City, GA., Hilton Roberts of Sparks, GA., Billy Roberts of Ray City, GA., and Eston Roberts of Valdosta, GA. and one sister, Velma Roberts Williams of Miami, FL.
Left behind to carry on is his loving wife of 66 years Mary Gladys Lancaster Roberts, and one daughter, Mae Belle Roberts Reagan of Valdosta, GA
There are three grandchildren, Chesley Tyson Reagan and Jennifer of Conyers, GA., Kimberly Melissa Reagan Miley and Walter Miley of Cecil, GA., Angela Marie Reagan Allen and Derek Allen of Valdosta, GA.,
There are five great grandsons who will miss there papa, Jacob Andrew Reagan of Valdosta, GA., Jarrett Thomas Allen of Valdosta, GA., Christopher Ryan Reagan of Cecil, GA., Lathan Walter Miley of Cecil, GA., Trenton Gage Reagan of Conyers, GA., and one great granddaughter who will miss her papa, Samantha Brook Miley of Cecil, GA.
There are three brothers, Denver Roberts and Louise of Naylor, GA., Vernon Roberts and Geraldine of Naylor, GA., Everette Roberts of Nashville, GA., one sister, Vernell Roberts Barrentine of Nashville, GA. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 19, 2007 in Cat Creek Primitive Baptist Church with burial following in New Ramah Cemetery.
