Odis “Big O” Owen Akins – 74

Of Valdosta passed away about noon Friday March 12, 2004 in South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta. He was born March 13, 1929 in Cook County near Cecil, GA and had lived in Lowndes County, GA most of his life. He was a veteran of WW II serving his country in the U.S. Army. “Big O” loved people, never met a stranger working as a insurance and car salesman for over 40 years. In his spare time you could find him fishing or camping. He was preceded in death by his parents William Aaron and Jewell Ester Morrell Akins 7 Sisters 6 Brothers a granddaughter Angie.
He was a member of the American Legion post # 13, and the Azalea City Church of God
in Valdosta.

His Loving Wife of 53 years Mary “Billie” Martin Akins - Valdosta
Daughter – Diann Blalock – Valdosta
Sons and Daughter-in-law – Ronnie Akins – Valdosta
Steve and Debbie Akins – Valdosta

Grandchildren – Michael, Shauna, Larry, Danny, Christie, Jason, Ashley, Stepheny, Travis, Stephen, Melissa

Step Grandson and his wife – Jason Brian and Le Ann

Great Grandchildren – Hunter, Kayla, Zack, A.J., Brae Lee, Stevie, Caleb, Emily

Sister – LeEster Smith – Alabama

A number of Nieces and Nephews

Funeral Services were held at 3:00 P.M. Monday March 15, 2004 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial in Friendship cemetery near Hahira.
