Odis Jerald Bryant Jerry 68
Of Quinlan, TX passed on to his heavenly home Friday evening, April 1, 2005, following a lengthy illness. He fought a courageous battle and will be deeply missed. His legacy to his wife and three sons was his unfailing capacity for unconditional love. Jerry had a great love for Paleontology, the art of Bonsai, nature and animals. He was born November 13, 1936 in Douglas County, Georgia, to Queenie Belle Daniell Bryant and Kenney Bryant. He grew up in LaGrange, Georgia. At the age of 17 Jerry enlisted in the United States Air Force. During his Air Force career of 20 years he served a tour of duty in Vietnam, 1966 1967. At Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska, Jerry flew as a crewmember aboard Strategic Air Commands SAC flying command post, Looking Glass. Looking Glass aircraft were in the air 24 hours a day in case of national emergency. In 1974, he began a second career with Electronic Communications Inc. in St. Petersburg, Florida. For four years he was assigned to Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland, where he was a Technical Representative for the United States Presidential Fleet of Aircraft. Jerry and his wife Pat moved to Greenville, TX in 1983, where he worked at E-Systems as a Quality Assurance Engineer until retirement in 1995. He married Patricia Sue White on September 6, 1959 in Lakeland, Georgia. They had 45 happy years together.
He is survived by his wife and three sons; Brett Morrison Bryant and his wife, Barbara of San Diego, CA, Kenneth Ashley Bryant and his wife, Mary of Quinlan, TX and Jerald Todd Bryant of Palm Harbor, FL. Grandchildren are Anthony Cullen Bryant of Bonita, CA, Holly Ann Bryant and Joseph Lee Bryant of Palm Harbor, FL. Brother, James Bryant of Sylacauga, AL. Sister, Minnie Louise Bryant Willis of Virginia Beach, VA. Several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 7, 2005 in the First Baptist Church of Lakeland with the Rev. John Bracken and the Rev. John Evans Patten officiating. Burial will followed in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Music Funeral Services of Lakeland is serving the Bryant family.
