Otto Irby – 81

Of Valdosta passed away Sunday, April 16, 2006 in South Georgia Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born on March 19, 1925 in Midville, Georgia to the late Oliver Wright & Anthea Beckworth Irby. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Irby worked with Owens-Illinois Paper Mill for 40 years as a machine tender. After retiring from O & I he and his family owned and operated Irby’s Flowers for 25 years. He was a member of Grace Community Chapel where he served as a deacon, St. John the Baptist Lodge #184 and Hasan Temple of Albany. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Denise Baskin.

Survivors Include: Wife of 60 years, Marcelies Irby , Valdosta, GA, 2 Daughters & Sons-in-law; Linda & Bill Sidener, Milledgeville, GA, Redetha & Warren Jernstad, Des Moines, IA, 2 Sons & Daughters-in-law; Dennis & Marilyn Irby, Valdosta, GA, Gary & Cindy Irby, Snellville, GA, 16 Grandchildren, 28 Great Grandchildren, 2 Sisters; Margie Pitts, Jacksonville, FL, Ruby Webb, Macon, GA, Brother, Richard Irby, Hephzibah, GA, Sister-in-law, Emily Joiner, Brother-in-law, Norman Taylor and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 19, 2006 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with Elder V. Vernon Eckleberry, PhD. officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens.
